Palmer Logistics is looking for a skilled Yard Jockey / Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team!
The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and proficient in operating a yard jockey and forklift in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a crucial role in our daily operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of containers and trailers. Pay Rate:
$20.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by moving containers and trailers between the yard, to and from docks.
- Maintain yard jockey fuel levels and refuel when necessary.
- Performs daily yard checks.
- Load, unload, move, and stage product by operating various equipment such as sit-down forklift, reach truck, cherry picker.
- Pull and prepare product for shipping including but not limited to labeling, banding, stretch wrapping, block and brace.
- Verify shipments for accuracy, document and report any discrepancies.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
- Inspect yard jockey / forklift equipment noting any maintenance or anticipated repairs to management.
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards, and awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people, equipment, etc.) always.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Must have 2 years as a yard jockey driver.
- Must have 2 -3 years of forklift experience in a logistics environment.
- Flexible work schedule: must be able to come in early, stay late, and/or work weekends depending on operational needs.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, adjust the body to bend, push, pull, stretch, stoop, squat, and grab; walk and sit for extended periods.
- Detail-oriented and capable of performing basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
